Intersen Phase - Grade 4 - Grade 7

International Maarif School Enrol

Curriculum

The Intersen Phase aims to prepare children for a smooth transition to High School. In the Senior Phase the academic requirements become more demanding and structured. Textbooks, projects and exams are all new challenges. This can be a daunting time for both children and parents. We are well aware of the challenges in this phase and our experienced teachers are available to both parents and students to help smooth this transition.

Following upon the formative years, this phase offers a wider range of learning areas which constitute a broader expanse of knowledge and skills to allow the learners to explore their interests and capabilities, thus preparing them for more informed choices in later years when subject choices will have to be made. Teaching and learning will also be more complex, with methods which are designed to wean learners out of dependence on adults and develop intellectual confidence.

At IMS, 21st Century Learning Skills, particularly critical thinking, problem solving, community of inquiry, and flipped lessons will be fostered increasingly. Our classrooms, which are equipped with projectors for multimedia lessons, will provide a conducive environment to bring out the best in our learners. In addition, computer skills, coding and robotics, character refinement and nature study to focus on environmental issues are embedded as supplements to the CAPS Curriculum to ensure that our learners are ready to meet the demands of a fast- changing world.

Religious Education

The International Maarif School does not teach religious studies. In the diverse and multicultural society that we live in, we believe that it is the choice and responsibility of parents to guide their child’s spiritual development. We do however teach universally accepted morals and values programme, which we hope will help guide children’s decisions and choices.
